Job Description

Job Description: We are seeking a Firmware Architect for the system engineering team with focus on UMTS (3G) 3GPP Rel.11 and beyond. In this position you will contribute to the definition of the architecture of Intel's combined 3G and LTE L1 baseband. This includes interface definition to the protocol stack (L2/L3) as well as design and documentation of the overall FW architecture considering real-time, power and HW constraints imposed by the standard or the associated platform components. You will work closely with other system engineering teams, HW, FW and SW design teams.

Responsibilities

-Define and document FW related requirements and use cases including breakdown into FW components for Intel's 3G and LTE products

-Define external and internal FW interfaces including functional as well as timing aspects

-Provide FW interface and FW architecture specifications

-Develop concepts to improve the performance of current 3G/LTE products in close cooperation with customers

-Develop test strategies in cooperation with the component verification team

-Provide implementation and debug support to the FW development teams in an international environment

-Drive and conduct code reviews with the FW development team

-Advise project and program management in planning

-Develop and present technical product documentation to customers and for training

-Closely follow the 3GPP standardization process

Qualifications

Master degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, PhD is a plus

- proven experience in real-time embedded software design

- proven experience in SW/FW design for cellular modem standards (2G, 3G, LTE)

-Expert knowledge on L1 control or Protocol Stack for wireless communication standards

-Working knowledge of C/C++ programming language

-Working knowledge of SW engineering tools e.g. for UML modeling

-Excellent communication skills in English
