Job Description
The JTAC Technical Support Engineer will support JUNOS based networking products, working directly with customers, partners and engineering.
Responsibilities Include
- Provide high quality tier 2/3 technical support for value added resellers (VARs), distributors, service providers, enterprise customers, and end users via telephone, e-mail, and web.
- Escalate cases to Tier 3 once a possible product defect has been identified.
- Assist in the support of Beta product and software, including testing and documentation.
- Write technical notes, application notes, case studies, knowledge base entries, and solutions for the Technical Assistance Center website.
- Perform technical training for Level 1 Technical Support Engineers and customers.
- Ability to travel both domestically and abroad (although this would be a small percentage of time).
- Ability to participate in weekend duty rotation (in the office or on call
Desired Skills & Experience
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- 3-9 years of experience supporting enterprise networks in a customer service role.
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer skills required.
- Certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent are a plus.
- Strong understanding of:
TCP/IP protocols and concepts
Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, RIP)
Unix/Linux and Windows
High Availability concepts (HSRP, VRRP)
Sniffer trace analysis
- Working knowledge of:
Security Technologies and concepts (Firewall and VPN)
Load Balancing concepts
MPLS, Multicast and various WAN protocols
- Ability to clearly guide customers through complex troubleshooting steps over the phone or in written form, sometimes in high pressure situations.
- Ability to own and drive high priority issues from technical and communication perspectives.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve various complex networking and routing issues.
- Ability to describe and isolate product defects from working as designed functionality.
- The ideal candidate has a passion for the Internet, its growth, network security and related new technologies.
- Ability to learn and integrate new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
You will also have:
Working experience with traffic generators and network protocols analysis tools
Working experience in Network security, checkpoint, firewall, Cisco ASA,
Troubleshooting experience on Network Security devices such as firewall
Working experience with: Linux, FreeBSD, MacOS, Scripting languages (Tcl, Perl)
Practical knowledge of L1/L2 technologies: Ethernet, SONET/SDH, ATM, Frame Relay
Strong problem solving skills, applicable to large and complex network scenarios
Strong customer management and customer service skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
